Island Home Country received a High Commendation - UTS Reconciliation Award at the UTS Human Rights Awards, October 28. Dr. Jackie Huggins, Deputy Director, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit, Univ of Qld. was the guest speaker and also presented the Awards.

Island Home Country will screen at the 'Re-Orienting Whiteness' Conference (Monash University) in December where Jeni will also present a paper on practice-led research, protocols process and whiteness.

Island Home Country was recently offered a broadcast contract with ABC Television and will screen on the Sunday Arts Program as part of NAIDOC week, July 2009.

Island Home Country premiered at the Brisbane International Film Festival in August 2008.

Jeni also participated in the seminar Film as a Formative Media: national and international filmmakers discuss the power, influence and aesthetics of their work and its impact on social, political, cultural and environmental issues in a globalised environment.
